You can't win them all, right?
The O's snapped a season-high four-game win streak on Tuesday night, falling 4-2 to the visiting Oakland A's.
Brian Matusz had yet another quality start, but was saddled with the loss. After starting the season with two straight wins, Matusz has lost nine straight, though he has pitched far better than his record shows.
The Birds went down early but were in the game until the end. Koji Uehara came on to pitch the ninth inning with the O's trailing 3-2, and allowed Oakland to push another run across the plate.
The Orioles were held to just five hits, but at least the power swings are still there...four of the five hits were doubles. The team showed patience at the plate as well, drawing seven walks, but was unable to get that big hit when it counted...the O's went just 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
As I stated before, the day off on Monday may have been a bad thing for the team...normally the Birds need to rest up, but the momentum was all theirs and it would have been nice to see them extend the winning streak to five.
Still, Wednesday is another day...the O's send Kevin Millwood to the mound, looking for his third straight victory.
