Orioles Magic is Officially Back in Baltimore...

Dare I say it?

After the Birds won their fourth straight game on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the Nationals with a 4-3, come-from-behind victory, I feel pretty confident that the magic is back. At least for now...

Honestly...who in their right mind could have predicted this? The Birds hadn't won four straight games all season. The winning streak includes one lopsided victory (Thursday night's 11-4 thrashing of the Florida Marlins) but each contest against Washington was decided by one run.

And the Orioles trailed in each and every game...in order: down 3-0, down 6-0, down 5-0 and then down 3-0 again on Sunday. But the O's played as a team...the starters were not spectacular but never let the game get TOO out of hand, the bullpen was magnificent and the offense stepped-up and started scoring runs.

Let's just say I've been in a better mood this week than I have been all season.

Sadly, the Orioles have Monday off. This is the first time all season I have been upset that the team was not playing the next day...it's usually been a time for them to rest, lick their wounds and try to forget about the previous series.

Not this week...hopefully the O's can keep the momentum going...Brian Matusz leads the Birds against the visiting Oakland A's Tuesday night. Go O's!
