O's can't win one for the new Skipper

I was hoping to see the O's play an inspirational game on Friday night...

With Dave Trembley home in Florida, Juan Samuel was able to experience the thrill of managing the worst team in baseball.

It wasn't pretty.

The O's were shut down by the visiting Boston Red Sox 11-0, dropping their ninth straight game and falling to a horrific 15-40 record.

Clay Buchholz allowed five hits over nine innings...yup, a complete game shut-out. All five hits were singles...

Meanwhile, O's starter Chris Tillman allowed four runs off five hits in just 1 1/3 innings, and four relievers were unable to stop the bleeding...the Sox scored 11 runs on 16 hits (3 doubles and 3 homers). The O's struck out ten batters while walking four, but the Sox bunched hits together, scoring at least one run in six separate innings...

It doesn't get any easier.

O's killer Jon Lester (10-0 against Baltimore) takes the mound Saturday night. Jeremy Guthrie will try to keep the Birds from losing 10 straight for the first time this season...
