Birds Blown Out Of Chicago

It was an ugly game to watch if you were rooting for the Orioles...the Birds dropped the finale against the White Sox 8-0 on Thursday night.

Jake Arrieta struggled early, walking three batters and allowing a run in a 35-pitch first inning. Arrieta (4-6) lasted just four innings, allowing four runs off seven hits and those three walks. The bullpen didn't fare much better, with Rick VandenHurk and Armando Gabino combining to allow another four runs off seven hits and a walk through the final four frames...

Meanwhile, the O's offense could barely manage a hit off Sox starter Edwin Jackson, who got the win after allowing just three hits over eight innings, walking two and fanning ten. The Birds finished with four hits on Thursday night, and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Overall, it was just an ugly game to watch (the O's committed two errors as well), as the team dropped the series to Chicago. The Birds now head to California to take on the Angels for a three-game set...Brad Bergesen takes the mound for the O's on Friday night.
