The Birds belted four homers off Cliff Lee en route to an 8-6 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Rookie third baseman Josh Bell hit his first Major League home run in the third inning, a two-run bomb to center field that put the O's on the board...after Ty Wigginton and Luke Scott hit back-to-back solo shots in the fourth inning, Bell crushed a three-run blast to center field, finishing his career day with five RBIs (he had four total coming into the game).
Brad Bergesen allowed five runs over seven innings, but the offense bailed him out as he recorded the "W" without his best stuff. Koji Uehara pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his first Major League save. Given how well Koji has pitched lately, this may have been a sign that Buck Showalter has found his new closer...that remains to be seen.
The Birds have now taken two of three from Texas and have a chance to win the series on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Millwood takes the mound to face his former club...
